| Job Description | Professional 3 – Remuneration Package Range Combine your expertise in Sonography with your sense of adventure and take the opportunity to work in regional locations across the Territory. NT Health’s Medical Imaging Department provides high-quality diagnostic medical imaging services in Territory wide hospitals and community health centres in areas of emergency, intra-operative and general x-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, gynaecology and obstetrics, mammography and fluoroscopy. As a Senior Sonographer, your key duties are to provide high-quality diagnostic medical imaging services, including participation in the shift and on-call roster, and actively participate in the supervision and education of students and less experienced staff. In addition, you will be required to perform the required administrative duties for imaging procedures, ensuring accurate completion of the necessary documentation, and image transfers to Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). You may also be required to undertake relief duties at other hospital and medical imaging sites. Working with a team of medical professionals and modern equipment, Sonographers perform advanced ultrasound examinations; identify complex or unusual pathology, often unique to the Territory and ensure the most appropriate high-quality imaging is performed. In co-operation with the Chief Sonographer, you will provide leadership, supervision and mentorship to junior sonographers, ensuring adherence to standard work practices. In addition, you will contribute to clinical activity, perform patient registrations and participate in the team’s shift and on-call rosters. Opportunities to travel to regional communities and provide outreach services to some of the most remote clinics across the Top End of Australia. To be successful you require a recognised Medical Ultrasound qualification which confers eligibility for registration with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registration (ASAR). Demonstrated experience in various fields of sonography with the ability to perform general, obstetrics/gynaecology, vascular and musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations, and sound knowledge and understanding of all facets of Sonography / Medical Imaging is essential. Applicants with additional tertiary qualifications in Medical Radiation Science and high-level experience in various fields of Radiography are encouraged to apply.
