Be part of something from the beginning. Lumus Imaging is opening a brand‑new, comprehensive imaging clinic in Launceston, and we’re seeking an experienced and highly qualified Chief Sonographer to lead our ultrasound services and to help shape our culture, and patient experience from day one

Flexible full-time or part-time arrangements are available, making this role ideal for senior leaders seeking both impact and balance.

About the role

As Chief Sonographer, you will provide clinical and professional leadership across the ultrasound service, ensuring the highest standards of image quality, safety, and patient care.

 

Key responsibilities include:

Leading, mentoring, and developing sonographers at all career stages
Designing and delivering training programs and CPD initiatives
Driving clinical excellence, quality assurance, and continuous improvement
Collaborating closely with Radiologists and operational leaders
Supporting service growth across a diverse ultrasound caseload

 

About you

You will bring extensive clinical expertise, strong leadership capability, and a passion for developing people, along with:

Broad experience across General, MSK, Vascular, Obstetric, Interventional, and Small Parts ultrasound
Proven experience training junior sonographers and upskilling experienced staff
Demonstrated ability to lead change and inspire high performance
Strong communication and presentation skills
Up-to-date knowledge of contemporary ultrasound techniques and technologies

 

Qualifications & requirements

Recognised qualification in Medical Imaging / Sonography
Previous leadership experience managing a team of sonographers
Demonstrated expertise across General, MSK, Interventional, O&G, Small Parts, and Vascular ultrasound
Current ASAR registration
Strong problem-solving skills in a complex clinical environment
Working With Children Check and National Police Check
