POSITION PURPOSE This role is the lead radiographer role for Grampians Breastscreen incorporating Horsham and Hamilton screening sites and the Grampians Health Screening and Assessment site at the Queen Elizabeth centre. They will work with the Client services team, Clinical Director, Nurse Counsellors and Radiographers to deliver a high quality, client centred service for Grampians Breastscreen. In conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team or alone as necessary, the Designated Radiographer is responsible for the efficient operation of the screening service in regard to attainment of high standards of mammography quality and client support, as well as care, maintenance and quality assurance of the mammography equipment. Through exceptional communication and active listening the Designated Radiographer will support and guide the team to provide respectful care addressing the individual cultural beliefs, values, anxiety and personal characteristics of the clients attending BreastScreen. Support the Program Manager to assist in delivering a sustainable business model, perform to achieve targets and budgets on time and to schedule. Identify any continuous improvement opportunities or potential risks, being mindful of processes, policies or technologies, which may impact on the service or the staff. Be aware and fully compliant with NAS monitoring and reporting, quality, safety and professional certification requirements at all times pertinent to both screening processes and equipment. Continue to work cooperatively with the Reading and Assessment Service and Grampians BS staff to facilitate ongoing improvement to service quality. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Acts as a key point of contact for the radiographers/mammographers and works in collaboration with other members of the Grampians BreastScreen multidisciplinary team, Radiology Department, Grampians Health and BreastScreen Victoria (BSV).
- Responsible for the quality of screening mammography within the Grampians screening service and the Mobile Screening service, when in the Grampians region, and ensures compliance with the NAS requirements.
- Orientates, trains and supports radiographers new to the service.
- Supports the professional development of RAS and SSP radiography staff, recommends quality improvements and provides or arranges training and coaching where necessary to address quality issues. This includes training and supervision for radiographers undertaking mammography training.
- Provides ongoing feedback to mammographers through regular Image Quality Reviews
- Produces and distributes quarterly statistics and YTD statistics for the individual mammographers and the service more broadly.
- Actively participates in the quality, team and other meetings for the Grampians BreastScreen including assisting in strategic and operational planning such as radiographer recruitment and the development if service models to meet growing activity.
- Maintains an active presence in the workplace, monitoring safe and effective practice and offering support to remedy practice as necessary to ensure longevity and wellbeing for the mammography team.
- Works with the Clinical Director/Designated Radiologist and Program Manager to facilitate imaging quality assurance/quality improvement for screening and assessment across the region.
- Works as a clinician for screening and assessment: the extent is dependent upon the time fraction of the incumbent Designated Radiographer.
- Sets up the screening appointment schedule ensuring sufficient appointments to meet targets providing appropriate timeslots to support a high quality and efficient service
- Assists in the preparation for BreastScreen Australia Accreditation which includes developing and maintaining radiography policies and procedures.
- Attends BSV Radiographer Q meetings providing service reports to the State Radiographer and ongoing support and feedback on new initiatives and projects
- Leads internal radiographer meetings – quality, operational and educational.
- Keeps up to date on the latest developments in breast imaging.
- Maintain accurate records and statistics and produces reports as needed.
- Oversees the Quality Assurance program for the service including Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual testing of equipment in conjunction with other mammographers, in accordance with the BSV QA program
- Liaison with medical physicist or equivalent and planning for scheduled maintenance. Oversees radiation protection and management and preventative maintenance of all radiographic equipment.

- Adherence to infection control policies and procedures as identified in the Grampians Health Infection Control Manual.
- Participation in the Grampians Health integrated risk management and quality improvement systems by being aware of responsibilities to identify, minimise and manage risks and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in your workplace through communication with manager and colleagues.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Qualifications and experience - Must Hold CMP (Certificate of Mammographic Practice) renewal required every 3 years
- AHPRA registration
- Victorian Radiation Use Licence Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills
- Extensive experience in screening mammography and diagnostic mammography
- Excellent knowledge and experience with quality assurance/quality improvement processes.
- Well-developed knowledge of BreastScreen Australia programs and understanding of the National Accreditation StandardsWork Environment
- Sound knowledge of information technology systems, Microsoft office and experience with PACS/Digital Radiography
- Evidence of and commitment to professional developmentPersonal attributes
